Tennessee Task Force One (TN-TF1) is one of 28 elite Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) teams established and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security. Sponsored by the Memphis Fire Department, TN-TF1 is equipped and trained to respond to a broad range of natural and man-made disasters, including earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, terrorist attacks, and incidents involving trapped, missing, or injured victims.
As the task force's sponsoring agency, the City of Memphis provides critical support, including administrative staffing, training infrastructure, warehouse facilities, and logistical coordination. The team is comprised of Memphis Fire Department personnel, professionals from other local fire departments, and experts from the civilian sector.
